Acknowledgment
I wish to acknowledge that the land on which I live, work, and raise my children is in Southern Alberta, on the traditional territories of the Siksikaitsitapi—the Blackfoot Confederacy—which includes the Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika Nations. I also acknowledge the Tsuut’ina Nation, the Stoney Nakoda Nations of Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley, and the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, whose deep connections to this land continue today.
This land has been a place where Indigenous peoples have learned, grieved, celebrated, raised children, shared meals, built community, and loved for generations since time immemorial. It remains a sacred home where stories, languages, and traditions are carried forward.
As someone who has the privilege to work and raise my own children here, I honour all Indigenous peoples who came before me and who continue to shape this land with resilience and wisdom. I also recognize the truth of the harm caused by colonization and the ongoing impacts of residential schools, displacement, and systemic injustice.
With humility, I commit myself to the work of reconciliation, listening to truths, learning from Indigenous voices, and striving to contribute to a future built on respect, equity, and care for one another.
